Free Favicon Generator

Create a complete favicon package from text or a logo: PNG sizes, favicon.ico, light/dark variants, and HTML snippet. Free in your browser.

About this tool

Favicon Generator builds the common favicon sizes (and related icons) from text or an uploaded image, plus adaptive light/dark variants and an HTML snippet you can paste into your site.

Best for: New sites and apps that need a complete favicon package (ICO, PNG sizes, SVG, and HTML) from one logo or mark.

How to use it

  1. Enter short text or upload a square logo, then crop and adjust styling.
  2. Enable adaptive light/dark if you want separate tab icons for dark browser chrome.
  3. Export the ZIP and copy the HTML snippet.
  4. Upload files to your host and paste the tags into your document head; verify with Favicon Checker if needed.

Common problems and tips

  • The small 16×16 icon looks muddy. Use 1–2 bold characters and high contrast. The generator supersamples and sharpens sizes ≤40 automatically. Avoid busy images for tab icons; fine detail disappears at tiny sizes.
  • The browser still shows an old favicon. Hard‑refresh or clear cache. Favicons are aggressively cached; bump the file name or query string after replacing files.
  • The favicon disappears in Chrome dark mode. Keep Adaptive light / dark enabled. Export installs favicon.svg plus *-dark.png files and HTML with prefers-color-scheme media queries so browsers switch automatically.
